In 1709, Fontenelle gave his imprimatur to the Principes phisiques de la Raison et des Passions des hommes, by Antoine Maubec, future doctor to the Duchesse d’Orléans. His Traité de la dyssenterie was published in 1712. The events of Antoine Maubec’s life, according to documents kept in the medical library of Montpellier, provide an opportunity to try to trace the relationship between medical practice in Montpellier, Fontenelle and the academicians, and the clandestine authors who discussed heterodox medical subjects.

Abstract
In 1709, Fontenelle gave his imprimatur to the Principes phisiques de la Raison et des Passions des hommes, by Antoine Maubec, future doctor to the Duchesse d’Orléans. His Traité de la dyssenterie was published in 1712. The events of Antoine Maubec’s life, according to documents kept in the medical library of Montpellier, provide an opportunity to try to trace the relationship between medical practice in Montpellier, Fontenelle and the academicians, and the clandestine authors who discussed heterodox medical subjects.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
