Afghanistan still faces the problem of forging and keeping national unity given its extreme heterogeneous population. The situation is further complicated by the fact that these disparate ethnic groups have been brought together by the use of force basically exercisedby one such group exercising domination over the others, and by historical accident rather than by a shared historical experience. Ater the collapse of the Taliban, with the Bonn Agreements, the minorities in Afghanistan feel that they may be in a position to participate fully in the political process.The constitutional asset of the Afghan State has historically acknowledge no aspect of Hazara presence in the Country for a long time while today the current constitution provides for the recognition of minorities rights. Although Afghani scholars and political authorities have put huge efforts to meliorate the conditions of the Shi’a and, in general, to recognize the dignity and the very existence of the Hazaras as a component of the very rich Afghan Nation, there is still a long way to run.
