During the 1950s, the large ‘made in Italy’ reinforced concrete structure established itself around the world. As a consequence, fascinating Italian architects turned structural- and construction-based research into novel figurative conceptions. Enrico Castiglioni (1914–2000) was a distinctive interpreter of this collective phenomenon, but, although his work was significantly discussed in the literature of the 1950s and 1960s, it is today completely neglected.
