The article connects the Roman word burino to burra ‘bure, plow rudder’, with the addition of the suffix -ino typical of several nomina agentis. Moreover, as regards buzzurro, it analyses some etymological hypotheses, according to which the word would either be a backformation from buzzurrone, an allotrope of buggerone ‘sodomite’, or linked to northern Italian forms such as buzur ‘buzz’, bruzur ‘burn’.

Abstract
The article connects the Roman word burino to burra ‘bure, plow rudder’, with the addition of the suffix -ino typical of several nomina agentis. Moreover, as regards buzzurro, it analyses some etymological hypotheses, according to which the word would either be a backformation from buzzurrone, an allotrope of buggerone ‘sodomite’, or linked to northern Italian forms such as buzur ‘buzz’, bruzur ‘burn’.File in questo prodotto:
