The paper is divided into two parts. Firstly, some passages of Aristotle’s De caelo will be taken into account in which it is possible to glimpse an Academic background. Aristotelian expressions and theses will be compared with analogous formulations in the fragments of Xenocrates and Speusippus and in the Epinomis. Secondly, an attempt will be made to reconstruct the peculiar attitude that Aristotle assumes in those passages of the De caelo towards the Academic heritage.
