Il Futuro dell’Europa

The book is divided in two parts: • History of European integration: particular emphasis is put on the actors and their motivations. We tried to highlight the continuing tensions, characterizing the European integration process since the beginning, between the followers of the “community method” and the advocates of the national State’s predominance, a debate that has seen political scientists divided between scholars of (European) supranationality and of liberal intergovernamentalism. • Functioning of the EU institutions: in dealing with the EU institutional framework we highlighted in particular the changes occurred along the years, following the revisions of the original Treaties. The text is updated with the Treaty establishing a European Constitution, as signed in Rome on the 29th October 2004.
