In this note we describe the very forward part of the large experiment UA1 now installed at CERN using the SPS as a proton-antiproton collider. The full UA1 experiment is due to the collaboration of more than one hundred physicists of CERN and other various world institutions, including Rome. We describe here the part which is directly under the responsability of the Rome group. Emphasis will be given to the physics motivations, to the description of the experimental solutions and tests and, finally, to the software development for the analysis of the events.

Abstract
In this note we describe the very forward part of the large experiment UA1 now installed at CERN using the SPS as a proton-antiproton collider. The full UA1 experiment is due to the collaboration of more than one hundred physicists of CERN and other various world institutions, including Rome. We describe here the part which is directly under the responsability of the Rome group. Emphasis will be given to the physics motivations, to the description of the experimental solutions and tests and, finally, to the software development for the analysis of the events.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
