In 1941, Leon Battista Gaburri filed a patent for a "Method for building up buildings of all kinds". His challenge was the design of a construction system able to streamline the construction of reinforced concrete structures, thanks to a process faster than the cast in place, but same economic and "craft". So, the patent explains the Structurapid system: a prefabricated structure in reinforced concrete, composed of a series of hollow elements, easy to be assembled in a traditional construction site. The construction - carried out with using a single wooden winch, "tying" the bars and "filling" the elements with a completion casting - did not require any degree of mechanization and specialization. Therefore, in the ‘50s and ‘60s, the system was widely applied for various kind of building, throughout the national territory, getting a significative heritage of structures. Today, the italian way of "traditional industrialization" of the Structurapid system is still in wide use in developing countries.

Abstract
Today, the italian way of "traditional industrialization" of the Structurapid system is still in wide use in developing countries.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
