WALLeT is an ongoing project aimed at the implementation of a web-based platform for collaborative computer-assisted translation, built on open source technologies. The platform is geared to translator training but also to improving second language acquisition, by using translation as a means to develop metalinguistic awareness in university students. Special attention is given here to the theoretical and methodological assumptions underpinning the project, with special regard to the ratio behind the platform structure, the de nition of the stakeholders and their needs, and the activities that could be designed relying on the a ordances o ered by the platform. Furthermore, some key considerations are put forth with regard to the perspectives for research on second language acquisition and metalinguistic awareness opened up by the platform.

Abstract
The paper presents the WALLeT project (Wiki-Assisted Language Learning and Tran- slation). Furthermore, some key considerations are put forth with regard to the perspectives for research on second language acquisition and metalinguistic awareness opened up by the platform.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
