This thesis studies the impact of development, sustainable and welfare economics on financial decisions in a country. Here, I have analyzed the effects of political framework, labor movements, role of privates firms and social structure on the privatization patters in India from 1990 to 2004. The complexity of the mutual dependency of the included parameters makes privatization in India an interesting area for research. The analysis has been conducted in the following three chapters: First: gauging the vital role of politics in finance by analyzing the effect of political rivalry and labor movements on privatization in India. In this part, I emphasize on two parameters: (a) political rivalry between the main central parties in India; and (b) labor union protests against privatization in India. I used a binary logit model to test the data and observed the despite competition form the opposition, the ruling party continued with privatization decisions. The labor movements in turn have a negative and significant effect on the privatization patters. Second: an analysis of the role of private enterprises and its influence on the privatization pattern in India. Whether it is the indigenous private firms or multi nationals from abroad, the competitive pricing and quality of the products constantly pressurize the PSEs. The PSEs face multi shortcomings. Budget deficit, semi-skilled labor, bureaucratic complexities amongst few eventually lead the PSEs towards privatization. I have extended the model from the first part and have added market competition. I observe that market competition is indeed positively significant. Third: studying the effect of the social structure on the privatization patterns in India. It is vital to understand the effect of welfare economics on the financial activities in an economy. In order to do so, I have developed a new index, Social Welfare Index (which encompasses financial, economic, demographic and development conditions of the state) and have extended my binary model from the precious two sections by adding this index. I observe that social welfare index is significant and the social comfort experienced by an individual positively effects the motivation towards privatization

Abstract
This thesis studies the impact of development, sustainable and welfare economics on financial decisions in a country. Here, I have analyzed the effects of political framework, labor movements, role of privates firms and social structure on the privatization patters in India from 1990 to 2004. The labor movements in turn have a negative and significant effect on the privatization patters.
