Protons at energies up to a few hundreds of keV have been accelerated, by irradiating thin Al foils with an intense, fs laser pulses. The produced energetic protons, directed on a massive natural Boron sample, induced (p + 11B) fusion reactions accompanied by alpha particles emission, detected by a CR39 plate.
