The sarcophagi from central Greece, above all from Boeotia, are collected here for the first time. There are imports from Athens: more than 25 Attic sarcophagi are to be found in Boeotia. There are also local works. The local sarcophagi are mostly based on Attic models, but the designs are translated into a distinctive local idiom.
