L’edizione 1521 e l’edizione 1532 dell’Orlando Furioso di Ludovico Ariosto: alcune conside- razioni sulle mutazioni narrative

This essay analyses the narrative mutations between the second and the third edition of the Orlando Furioso by Ludovico Ariosto, conventionally identifies as B (1521) and C (1532). The Ar- iosto’s corrective changes between B and C, often made directly in the typography, seem to follow a specific argument: the search for the perfect rhythm. A lot has been written about the linguistic and stylistic differences, while the narrative techniques have been analysed just recently. The Ariosto’s changes to the text are sometimes minimal, yet the language, the style, the narrative and the structure share the same goal: making his Orlando Furioso perfect.
