Abstract

In pregnancy there is an increase in maternal cardiac output (CO) and a reduction in total vascular resistance (TVR). Abnormalities of this adaptive mechanisms lead to numerous disorders of pregnancy. Moreover the mother's body water composition undergoes important modifications in total body water (TBW), extracellular and intracellular body water (EBW, IBW).
