This essay displays options and contradictions of a University teaching project ran by Università di Roma "Tor Vergata" in Rebibbia prison of Rome. Presenting and discussing a few ethnographic incidents, it aims at showing the impact of culture in prison's everyday life, most of all highlighting the persistent tension between supposed integrative goals of inprinsonment and current exclusionary practices od reclusion.
