Католическая церковь и фашизм в Италии: модернизация, войны, антисемитизм (1929–1945 гг.) // Фашизм и правый радикализм на Западе и на Востоке: история и современность

The Catholic Church and Fascism in Italy: Modernization, Wars, Anti-Semitism. The article focuses on the role played by the Catholic Church in the construction of popular consensus during three wars (Italo-Ethiopian War, Spanish Civil War, WWII), and in Fascist policy against the Jews. A strong emphasis is placed on the different nuances that influenced the themes of the nation and war at the religious, cultural and political levels. For it was these questions that galvanized the main transformations that took place in the Catholic world. By looking closer at these questions, we can better define the far-reaching contaminations that were taking place between the two formative agents – Church and regime – in the construction of a collective consciousness that left its indelible mark on the Italian mind during this period.
