Abstract

During a rigorous long-term follow-up, still proceeding, of hemispherectomized patients, amazing results have emerged from the perimetry. None of the six patients examined up to now has shown a typical picture of homonymous hemianopia controlateral to the hemispherectomy as it was to be expected. A patient couldn't be tested for lack of collaboration, another patient showed a sizeable narrowing of the residual hemifields, the other four patients showed visual fields centered and narrowed. The images of such visual fields are presented and possible explanations of these findings is offered.
