Recent excavations at the archaeological cave of Mora Cavorso, in central Italy (Lazio region), showed a stratigraphy spanning between the Late Pleistocene and the present day. The investigation of this long-term human frequentation has revealed the archaeological importance of the cave in its wider regional context, especially in the Early Neolithic period, when the cave was used intensively as a burial place. Despite the rather marginal location of this cave, a multidisciplinary approach allowed us to identify it as an important crossroads between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian coasts.

Abstract
Recent excavations at the archaeological cave of Mora Cavorso, in central Italy (Lazio region), showed a stratigraphy spanning between the Late Pleistocene and the present day. The investigation of this long-term human frequentation has revealed the archaeological importance of the cave in its wider regional context, especially in the Early Neolithic period, when the cave was used intensively as a burial place. Despite the rather marginal location of this cave, a multidisciplinary approach allowed us to identify it as an important crossroads between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian coasts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
