Illustrates the recent discovery of two fragments from two different printings by Ottavio Petrucci. The first, in the Archivio di Stato di Fano, was printed in 1538 and includes the tenor part of I motteti dal fiore. The second, in the Archivio di Stato di Pesaro, contains a reprint (of 1521, according to Boorman) of the altus part of the Missa "Mente tota" by Antoine de Févin. The Fano document includes the motets In convertendo, with the second part Qui seminant Dominus (Lupus Hellinck); Inviolata, integra et casta es Maria, with the second part 0 benigna (Jean Courtois); and a Pater noster (Adrian Willaert). The discovery confirms the hypotheses advanced relative to the dependence of this last Petrucci printing on the homonymous collection published by Jacques Moderne at Lyon in 1532. The Pesaro document contains the Gloria, Credo, and Sanctus of Missa "Mente tota", included in the publication of Févin's Masses as first printed at Fossombrone on 22 November 1515. Boorman has identified at least two other reprints of this edition; the recently discovered fragment would belong to the latter, presumably dating to 1521. However, the circumstances pertinent to the transmission of this sheet, very similar to those of the three fragments relative to I motteti dal fiore, lead to the assumption of a date after 1521.

Abstract
However, the circumstances pertinent to the transmission of this sheet, very similar to those of the three fragments relative to I motteti dal fiore, lead to the assumption of a date after 1521.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
