The article deals with the arising of the "glocal" as a key intellectual concept. The article argues that this arising offers the chance to rethink some of the “roots”—be they physical, anthropological, or phenomenological—of our world, that is, of those structural devices that shaped our existence in the past and still shape it today. A rediscovery of these roots will direct toward novel ways, new “stories”—natural, dominant, imagined—, telling us about the systems and processes that led us to the current configuration of the globe. This reflection will help focus on some of the possible “horizons”—ecological, plural, shared—of our glocal world. Along this re-elaboration we will seek to individuate those devices and concepts that allow us to gain a deeper insight into the idea of glocality itself.

Abstract

Il volume, curato da Roland Robertson (Distinguished Professor of Sociology Emeritus, University of Pittsburgh, US e Emeritus Professor of Sociology and Global Society, University of Aberdeen, UK), fa parte della collana "Europe in a Global Context". Il saggio è contestualmente apparso in traduzione portoghese col titolo "Raizes, historias e horizontes politicos do glocal", in Linguagem e Politica, O. N. Fulaneti e A. M. Bueno (orgs.), São Paulo, Contexto, 2013.
