This paper deals with new procedures based on vibroacoustic techniques to diagnose power MV/LV transformers. The normally operating machines can be monitored and checked from a remote, dedicated diagnostic center where information is received directly from the field. The diagnostic method adepte and the experimental test results are reported. Tests have been performed either in the laboratory or directly in the field on transformers in normal operating conditions. The laboratory tests related the transformer vibrations to internal anomalies. The suggested monitoring and diagnostic system allows to usefully schedule preventative maintenance, reduce costs and improve the quality of power distribution.

Abstract

> Comments to the author: > The presented paper is certainly timely in today's needs in efficient On-Line continuous monitoring technique for Power Transformers. This paper contributes significantly to the condition assessment techniques based on vibro-acoustic procedures The authors have done an excellent job of experimental tests in laboratory and directly in the field on transformers in normal operating conditions. They have studied a lot of related factors and suggested monitoring and diagnostic system including an elegant mathematical model allowing to relate vibrations to the transformer anomalies We would like to thank the authors for the paper, and we hope that we may hear more of their experiences with condition assessment testing in future years. > > Sincerely yours, > > T.
