The plasma membrane redox (PMR) system is important for cell metabolism and survival; it is also crucial for blood coagulation and thrombosis. This review will give an update on the PMR system, with a particular regard to platelets, and on the role of antioxidant vitamins belonging to this system. © 2008 Bentham Science Publishers Ltd.
