Dalla Grecia di Occidente ad Adolphseck passando per Roma. Una testa femminile di divinità nello Schloss Fasanerie

The masterpiece of the collection of greco-roman antiquities in the Schloß Fasanerie near Fulda is a marble female head of goddess, over lifesize. The head, which has been often mentioned but never deeply studied, has been thoroughly analyzed from an iconographic and stylistic point of view. The analysis reveals its strong relations with the sculpture from Selinunte and, more in general, from western Greece. Furthermore, the possible ways, in which the sculpture has arrived in Rome, are investigated. The sculpture was in fact found in Rome - in the Celio area - and the topographic context is also briefly analyzed.
