Two-photon excitations of the ff transitions in Eu2+-doped KCl have been studied. Abstract

Two-photon excitations of the ff transitions in Eu2+-doped KCl have been studied. The splitting of the S728 P726 transition confirms that the symmetry of the Eu2+ ion is lower than cubic because of the presence of a charge-compensating cation vacancy. D6 and I6 multiplets have also been measured and their centers of gravity are compared with those observed in CaF2:Eu2+. © 1986 The American Physical Society.
